Set up your PixlTag
It only takes a couple of minutes. Follow the steps below to pair your device and start displaying whatever you like.
Before you start
- • Charge your PixlTag with a USB-C cable if it's flat.
- • Turn on Bluetooth (and NFC on Android) on your phone.
- • Allow Bluetooth / nearby-device permissions when the app asks.
- 1
Download the app
Grab the PixlTag app from the App Store (links above).
- 2
Power on your PixlTag
Make sure your device is charged and switched on. It sleeps to save battery, so you may need to give it a shake to wake it up.
- 3
Add the device
In the app, open the Devices tab, tap Add device, and choose Tap to pair.
- 4
Tap to pair
Hold your phone to the top of the PixlTag to activate NFC & Bluetooth. (Some Android phones open another screen — just switch back to the app and your device will show up.)
- 5
Connect
Your PixlTag will appear in the app. Tap it to connect.
- 6
Update the firmware
Open Device settings → Update firmware. Keep the app open and do not interrupt this while it runs.
- 7
Set your NFC action
Choose your NFC command in the settings and tap Set to send it to the device.
- 8
You're set up!
Head to the Effects tab to choose or draw whatever you want your PixlTag to display.
Troubleshooting
Device won't wake up? Give it a firm shake, or put it on charge for a few minutes and try again.
Not showing when pairing? Make sure Bluetooth is on and your phone is close to the device. On Android, grant the nearby-devices/location permission, then switch back to the app.
Firmware update stuck? Keep the device charged, keep the app open and in the foreground, and don't move too far from the device until it finishes.
Still stuck? Email us at info@pixltags.com and we'll help you out.
